ARBITRADE successfully represented the Ukrainian Chess Federation at the General Assembly of the European Chess Union in Tromso (Norway)
Taking into consideration Ukrainian Chess Federation’s letter to European Chess Union, dated 5 May 2014, the ECU General Assembly confirms:
- ECU is following and respecting its Statutes.
- In this case and all similar cases ECU is acting according to UN maps and UN resolutions.
- ECU is following International Olympic Committee’s decisions for sports jurisdiction.
- ECU is a sports organisation and promotes friendship and peace to all nations.
By way of reminder, on 27 March 2014 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which calls upon all international organizations not to recognize any alteration of the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol on the basis of the referendum of 16 March 2014 and to refrain from any action or dealing that might be interpreted as recognizing any such altered status. Thereby the UN acknowledged that Crimea remains within the territory of Ukraine, which is reflected on the official UN map.
