ARBITRADE’s senior associate completes an advanced course on arbitration and mediation procedure under the WIPO Rules
Iegor Sierov, senior associate of ARBITRADE has completed an advanced course on arbitration and mediation procedure under the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Rules, a distance learning course for dispute resolution professionals intended to describe the main features and advantages of the procedures designed by the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center.
This advanced course included information about WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, and three modules that were devoted to mediation, arbitration, including expedited arbitration, and one module concerned with the characteristics of conducting the arbitration under WIPO Rules.
Apart from an overview of the various WIPO dispute resolution rules, including matters of conducing WIPO mediations and arbitrations, managing arbitrations under WIPO Arbitration Rules, interim measures, the course materials centred on issues of confidentiality which comprise a distinctive feature of dispute resolution procedures administered by WIPO.
The course materials have been prepared by Mr. David Plant, a WIPO neutral, fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the author of “Resolving International Intellectual Property Disputes” (ICC Paris 1999).
The course was taught by Mr. Stavros Brekoulakis (head tutor, Professor in International Commercial Law and Arbitration, at Queen Mary, University of London), and Mrs. Angie Raymond, Mr. Tomas Serna, Mr. Thomas Schultz, Mr. Alejandro Garcia, Mr Rodrigo Azevedo Pereira.
